I don't say the balloon has gone up.
But after what happened today near 'Pindi, it's visibly straining at its moorings.

Indeed.

(Still on tenterhooks.)

I had her right up there beside Yulya Tymoshenko in my scary dollie collection, but then I heard Dubya eulogizing her, which is a bit creepy.

Ah, well. It's not like she didn't see it coming. While she was in exile it was like, is what's-her-name still alive? Probably this was her way of cementing her power.

Well....

It certainly will make a legacy, I suppose, but I rather expect she would have preferred to have lived.

Re: Well....

They've been replaying every interview she gave to American journalists since she returned to Pakistan: oddly enough, she is weirdly coy and equivocal whenever she is asked about the death threats she has received and whether she is afraid she will be killed. And she talks about visiting her father the night before he was hanged.

Suppose they had gotten to her in London? Way better like this; that's SOP in that area of the world.

Maybe she read Chapter Thirty-four and got her martyr mojo on...

Diva forever!

Sadly enough...

... you're quite likely right.

What makes me despair of human nature is not so much that she was shot - she knew she was stepping up for assassination, just hoped to get something achieved first - but that when she died some of her supporters attacked the hospital. That isn't just wrong and ungrateful, it's senseless. Possibly better than going home and beating their wives, but they may have done that too.

Hmmm.

Given the circs, I can rather see why their suspicions wd encompass the local medicos as well. It's still rather easy to wonder how this could have occurred in a garrison town without the MoD's or the ISI's being involved.

Re: Hmmm.

What, you don't believe she fractured her skull ducking back down into the car?

I don't believe the area cd be penetrated without its being an inside job.

And not even the Pakistan government are sticking with the cause of death claim.
