From the Party Guilty of Committing 'Gate of Ivory, Gate of Horn'

Bugger.
Am slowly returning to Land of the Living after an appalling fortnight.

More on that anon.

Ad interim, a query, one not limited to HP fandom.  Other than blythely and blamebrampton (and, well, me), who writes a goodish deal of political fic?  By that, I mean - use analogues to non-HP-fandom - fic in wh the characters deal regularly w parliamentarians, the Royals, the Wizengamot, and All That, in the same fashion as in 'Corridors of Power' and 'For the public good' and 'A blessing upon their counsels'.

That's an excellent story: painful, but true to life, and your ministry official has a very believable voice.

That is a remarkable story; congratulations! I'm glad you mentioned it here.

I'm glad to see you back around lj, and hope you are recovering!

grammerye1971 has written a bit of "Dark is Rising" fic in which Bran is a Plaid (or, as I just typed, Palid) Cymru MP, though she's not written much lately.

I've done it once or twice - have a look at my The First Nymphadora and It Was All on Account of the Little Russian Girl. These are also generally reckoned to be my best. But not regularly, because the personal and cultural features of JKR's world fascinate me rather more than her rather confused political view. The only thing she has done in that area that is really fascinating is the portrait of the Muggle Prime Minister in HBP; other than that, her depiction of the Ministry is conventional and unthinking, and her portrait of Ministers Fudge and Scrimgeour makes no sense at all. Fudge talks about the return of Voldemort as quite probable in Prisoner of Azkaban, but refuses to consider the very idea in Goblet of Fire only one year later - will the real Cornelius Fudge please stand up? And Rufus Scrimgeour is both amazingly ineffective and apparently out to antagonize the very people whose help he most needs. I do not think that JKR has ever thought about politics very seriously, at least until now. Not that I think this is a major blemish in itself; there are more than one writer in whose work you can see a definite cut-off point in which politics or related subjects move from being a mass of dead cliches, however cleverly handled, to a reality known and intelligently observed. JKR is certainly intelligent enough to get there, if she wants to. Meanwhile, we will have to rely on the likes of you to make up for her deficiencies.

Maybe there's two by furiosity? ... The Alpha Watch Archives Volume I: Sin For Me (http://archive.skyehawke.com/story.php?no=12904) & Interregnum (Interregnum) ... I haven't read the first in years and the second I've only heard about and not had time to read beyond a few chapters, so, don't quote me on that.
