Hush, now. The Yankees can't make decent sweet iced tea for anything. ;)

Mind the Music and the Steps!

...because sweet iced tea is an alien abomination. Perfect for washing down hominy grits.

Re: Mind the Music and the Steps!

If only hominy grits were the strangest thing I've been offered at a fancy dinner in Texas.

Once you've eaten collards in Karo syrup and pepper sauce a few times, sweet tea becomes the holy, palate-cleansing gift of God.

Of all the horrors I fought in the name of freedom, hominy grits was the most insidious and terrifying. My father always said he was afraid to eat grits because they looked like an alien monster coming to life on the stove top.

All over the South, like kudzu: hominy grits and sweet tea {shudder}.

And here my twenty-something Londonian pals seem to think that 'biscuits and gravy' is a terrifying dish.

Fortunately, I live close enough to the edge of what might be considered the South that I can get away with slabs of sugar-crusted "barbecue" beef, as far as revolting food items go.

If you want to know what horror is, try English fried bread some time. Especially with a fried egg on top.
