I know I ask a good deal of readers.
I do not apologise for that.

In coming days, there will be fic, and you will quite likely want, those few of you who read it, to get up yr Old Crockern legends and Wist Hounds and so on.

Ad interim, I can at least at once satisfy and pique curiosity about the Green Man bosses on the Sutton Littlecombe hammer-beams, and introduce the Three Hares bosses on the decorated ceiling at the Potter-Malfoy sub-manor house at Starveall.

Here is the Green Man, Jack in the Green, the Old Man of the Woods, Green George:

And here, the ancient and mystic symbol of the Three Hares:

Okay, sort of Western (Slovenia) and sort of recreated, but Green-George, nonetheless!

Because I was a huge Robert Graves fan when I was a teenage Classical Languages major: can't wait to see how this works in! If only you weren't completely bored by poor Mr. Krum!

"If only you weren't completely bored by poor Mr. Krum!"

(Looks puzzled) I've obviously been missing something while up to my neck in the latest assignment.

Hmmm, the Green Man I know but the Three Hares? That's a new one on me.

Am now so knee deep in speculation I shall probably explode before the next episode of your fic comes out!

Please, I pray you, compose yourself. Do not explode.

There's enough of that going on as is.

I'm not actually a non-Krum fan; indeed, we may see a bit of Vicky shortly.

As to the Three Hares ...

Re: Please, I pray you, compose yourself. Do not explode.

The Three Hares info is fascinating. When I next visit one of our local medieval churches I shall be looking out for it.

Looking forward to seeing how you work both these motifs into your story.
