They call it the witching hour because Tessa Jowell is on the Beeb. - Wemyss's Appalling Hobby:
From the Party Guilty of Committing 'Gate of Ivory, Gate of Horn'
They call it the witching hour because Tessa Jowell is on the Beeb.

Political insomnia is never pleasant.

But it is made utter hell when, in the small hours, one must listen to Tessa Bloody Jowell verbally fellate her Dear Leader, the Holy Tony.  What really got me, however, was her classic turn as an exemplar of precisely what is wrong with These People.  ‘Headlines’ – I gather she thinks these are random natural events, or made up by the press – have ‘destabilised’ the voters, and ‘negativity’ has ‘interfered with their judgement’ … but mind you, not forcing people to vote on a compulsory basis is letting democracy go too far. Oh, and the press want to ‘be very careful to be accurate in discussing her mortgage’: bullying ****.

Someone wants to tell Defra that BSE is back: I can show them a mad cow right away.  Arrogant ******.

So, the media is making stuff up and blowing things out of preportion. Dillusional much?

Funnily enough when the government has so many scandals in such a short space of time and don't seen to care there is going to be a feeling of 'negitivity' in the media. Perhaps if you did a good job there'd be a feeling of 'positivity'. If the media didn't report such goings on (like the US media so obviously doesn't) that would 'interfer with their judgement' - in the sense that they don't know how corrupt and incapable the government is and how it can't do the job it was created to do.

Grrrr. It makes me so mad when politicals blame things on the press. The press is supposed to drag up all the things you do wrong. It's their job. Your job is to NOT screw up, giving the press stuff to talk about.

And anyway, shouldn't she be off double checking all of her finances, just in case her husdand did something else she didn't know about. God, lets not get me ranting about 'how can we have someone who doesn't even know what's going on in her own household be in charge of a govt dept.'

Was laughing with so much glee when I heard the news this morning.

Yay see Tony, 9 days of scandal do affect how voters vote. Especially after 9 years of corruption and incompetance. Oh, sorry, 9 years of achievement. *snort*

Lord, I know. And then there's La Beckett at the FCO, now.

I can just see the staff at Nato and the UN and so on.

'Why is the British contribution and their annual dues payment late?'
'Something about farm subsidies, sir. Their new Foreign Secretary assures me that the cheque is in the post....'

Nothing like rewarding incompetence.
