Simply as an amusing exercise...
I shall take the risk. My wager is on a Romney victory of between 278 to 295 electoral votes.

At least he seems as if he could run a whelk stall - a capacity missing equally in Cleggy, Red Ed Millipede, and Call-Me-Dave (and of course in Mr Obama).

I too have a feeling that Romney will win - or at least, I awoke this morning with that sinking conviction.

I'm not sure whether he could run a whelk stall, but I'm persuaded he'd find a way to take the credit if a stall were being run in his vicinity.

Seriously, running a whelk stall would require him to associate with the hoi polloi and get his hands dirty...on the other hand he already smells fishy.

As against the incumbent...

... Mitt's positively Lincolnesque.

Re: As against the incumbent...

I invite you over to stop by the National Portrait gallery and stare very hard at Lincoln's life mask, and then his death mask.

Our NPG? Or yrs?

Because the second is less convenient to me.

Ours of course, but never mind ;)

Yes...

... you lot chose to give James Buchanan another term instead.

Re: Yes...

The result of compromising with the intolerable to maintain the status quo.

I certainly hope he does win.

Good for his country, good for the UK, and shuts Dan Hodges up over at the Torygraph.

Are you telling me Dan Hodges, whom I do not read, is biased???.
wemyss From: wemyss Date: November 7th, 2012 01:22 am (UTC) (Link)

Shocking, no?

Er ... no, not shocking at all.

Re: Shocking, no?

He tweeted some very defeatist news re: Obama's lead in Ohio in Romney private polls taken Sunday - O would have been 5 points ahead, and therefore unbeatable. It's VERY GOOD NEWS if Hodges is unreliable.

And cor, just read Brammers' post. Better not talk politics there for a bit.
wemyss From: wemyss Date: November 7th, 2012 02:24 am (UTC) (Link)

It shall be as it shall be.

No idea of his reliability; it's the certainty without cause that annoys one.

And, yes, I've no quarrel w/ Brammers, but the thread ... well. Two Minutes' Hate, really.

I shan't.

Nor shall I be shocked if it goes the other way.

Oh good. The world needs more middle aged men telling us what to do with our ladybits. Personally I welcome it. It frees up my mind to think about kittens and bumblebees.

I shall simply state:

that is my prediction.

Re: I shall simply state:

Yeah. I am just being a grouch tonight. Ignore me. I shall sneeze into my hot toddy.

I'm vy sorry to hear that you're a bit off-colour.

Have you Lemsip in hand?

Re: I'm vy sorry to hear that you're a bit off-colour.

No... but I do have things with lemon and honey (and just a tidge of Jamesons).

It's just depression about work and a teeny head cold. It makes everything feel out of proportion.

Might be worse.

See icon. Might be Lembit instead.

He'll outsource the whelktrappers' jobs to China and then come over there and tell the Queen she has no taste in hats.

Bring on the Zombie Apoclypse, I say, while I spin all your gold back into straw.
wemyss From: wemyss Date: November 7th, 2012 12:51 am (UTC) (Link)

Spin, span, spun.

Good to know some things don't change: you, imperturbable, at yr wheel.

NB: we've already had ample insult from the incumbent.

Dare to dream my friend
wemyss From: wemyss Date: November 7th, 2012 03:57 am (UTC) (Link)

Oh, it's not a dream.

More a hope that Americans are wiser than they sometimes appear to be. And it's not done and dusted quite yet.
