Thank you! And I notice you dipped under the radar again recently. You haven't gone gallivanting off to Pakistan to follow the cricket, have you? :)

Not As Yet.

Did have to pop over to Rome, though. Thank God for the Hotel Hassler, say I.

Actually, there has been tabled a proposal for a trip to What We Used to Own (or at least the larger fragment, India quâ India), via the former Gulf Trucial States. Nothing wrong with Jhansi, Agra, and Udaipur (quick literary quiz: name the famous fictional character in English literature who was born at what was then transliterated as Oodeypore), or with a night at the Burj al Arab in Dubai, but I'm dubious. As I am about the notion of Christmas in Vienna. I like Vienna, I like Christmas, I like the all-enveloping Strauss and the Stefansdom against the night sky and the Radetzky March filling the Goldener Saal, but, damn it, give me Salisbury Cathedral, old-fashioned crackers and Christmas pudding, carolling waits going door to door, and a proper Church of England service. Similarly, give me this green and pleasant land over the former jewel in the crown, for all its glamour and warmer winter weather. Besides, if I did go to India, I'd have no choice but to go to Ooty on pilgrimage for frances_jane, it being where Neville Chamberlain - the Victorian soldier, not the appeasing PM - invented snooker.

By the way, I meant to follow up on the fifth of my five questions, wh was unclear as phrased. Which, I meant to ask, will be more important in Book 7, and why does JKR not seem to realise that she's created two potentially marvellous 'minor' (snort) characters only to leave their potential unrealised?

Re: Not As Yet.

Well apart from the fact that if she expanded every character with potential, the books would be big enough to kill a baby elephant. And we'll only end up disappointeds if they different to what they were in our heads :D
