A modest proposal. - Wemyss's Appalling Hobby:
From the Party Guilty of Committing 'Gate of Ivory, Gate of Horn'
A modest proposal.

If Americans truly wish to elect to the presidency a man who would ruin not their own country only, but also Nato and the allies of the US, that is their choice.

Which said, may I suggest another choice?  I am assuming a majority do indeed wish to be led (and condescendingly lectured to) by a smarmy socialist, with a piquantly non-US background, worldly, sophisticated, superficially clever, superficially honest, superficially cultivated, superficially charismatic, superficially faux-eloquent, dowered with a truly appalling wife, steeped in a culture of cosy corruption, notorious for dodgy finances and bung, and so casual about contributions (and favours and bung) as to end by being interviewed by PC Plod under caution in a criminal investigation.

Well, why not choose one with actual experience, that being the most glaring of the lacunæ in Mr Obama’s record?

He won’t come cheap, but he’d still be less costly in the long run.  He has lashings of experience.  You lot quite like him already.  He’s ‘tanned, rested, and ready’.

Easy to spot.  Widow’s peak, crocodile smile, horrid wife, answers to the name of Tony.

Have I missed the news of what is awful about Ms Obama?

I agree whole-heartedly with the description of Mr Blair, though. Isn't he busy bringing peace to the Middle East, or has he finished with that now?

And Blair can hardly be the prophet of change. Why, he even uses the same toothpaste as Dubya!

While you and I are definitely at different ends of the spectrum when it comes to American politics, this is hilarious and the last line made me laugh so loud (and at work too - luckily the place is deserted). Especially the crocodile smile

Half-way through your post I realized where you were going. You know I cannot agree with you - I regard TB as a Thatcherite with an admixture of PC nonsense - but it still made me laugh, so thanks.
