Churchill is a personal hero of mine as you well know. I thank you for this lovely post. Cheers!

I saluted.

In 480 BC, the citizens of Athens, forced to evacuate their own city, stood on the cliffs of Salamis and watched their fleet throw everything it had at the imperial forces of Persia.

In 1402 AD, the troops and the citizens of the free republic of Florence stood on their walls, waiting for the final struggle with the terrible Gian Galeazzo Visconti of Milan, who had unified central and northern Italy under the flag of lawless tyranny.

Today, brave men and women wait in Tehran to hear which of them will vanish into Evin prison and be sacrificed to the monstrous cult that has seized their country.
I am sure you can think of other moments. The struggle for freedom never ends.
