I renew, as I shall do regularly, this appeal in behalf of New Zealand’s Linwood College. - Wemyss's Appalling Hobby:
From the Party Guilty of Committing 'Gate of Ivory, Gate of Horn'
I renew, as I shall do regularly, this appeal in behalf of New Zealand’s Linwood College.

You may or may not recall my prior post on this heading. Linwood College – that is ‘high school’ in American, I understand – in Christchurch, New Zealand, is not a particularly well-off institution, materially. Yet only materially: its pupil orchestra is quite good, although most of them cannot afford private lessons or to own their own instruments. They are so good that what was – and ought, dear God, to have remained – a major news story in Christchurch was that they were to cap their tour of Europe and the UK, the money for which they’d raised themselves, by performing at the remembrance ceremony upon Anzac Day at Westminster Abbey.

Of course, the story that next broke in Christchurch was that of a city stricken: the earthquake. The last of those confirmed dead in that terrible disaster was a pupil at Linwood College, whom they are burying today.

Brammers – yes, Our Blamebrampton – will be providing further details of how to direct your assistance. The school’s website and the Principal’s contact information are before you. I implore you to join with me in setting aside whatever you possibly can, to aid the school, and to see to it that its soul, embodied in its orchestra, is carried forward, even unto the Abbey in April to honour the Fallen. I cannot imagine that the fabled generosity of fandom should do less.

The moment Brammers lets us know how best to donate, I shall be there, checkbook in hand. :)

Remembering the Fallen

The situation is so tragic and yet the individual effort so hopeful.

Femme and I will continue to rouse people Stateside and do our best to support all efforts to gather aid for Linwood College.

Thank you for keeping this present and visible. We have to help.

It's so wonderful what you are doing on behalf Linwood College. I wonder if their tour is going to go ahead? If so, will you be attending the Westminster Abbey ceremony?

We were supposed to be in the UK in April, and hopefully in F&F for Anzac Day. However that has been put on hold for a year or two. Sighs of relief from HarperCollins NZ who would much rather I work on a manuscript that galavant around Europe looking at battlefields and cemeteries.

Well, luckily...

... looking at churchyards, war cemeteries, and battlefields is what I'm rather meant to do.

And the appeal is all Brammers' doing, bless her.
