Very interesting article, particularly re the Marconi company. I read in a very detailed account of the Titanic disaster that when Marconi went aboard Carpathia in New York, he brought a journalist from the New York Times to interview Harold Bride and publicise the Marconi company's role in what happened.

Indeed, yes.

Page 85: The liability of the Marconi companies in controlling the wireless operators aboard – whatever the captain might think; in giving priority to profitable passenger chatter over ice warnings; and in not requiring, any more than did regulations, a continuous listening watch, was not recognised (least of all by the New York Times, who, having entered into a deal with Marconi to obtain special access for its reporters to the survivors and particularly to the surviving Marconi operators, could somehow not find such a story Fit to Print) – having had some part at least in endangering the ship, the Marconi concerns were hailed as the saviours of those who were rescued. Herbert Samuel but put into words the common conclusion, that, providentially, those who were saved, were saved by one man, Marconi, and his marvellous invention.
