Infinite Jest: A post HP&DH, canon-compliant, HD challenge.

The Infinite Jest challenge:

There is no reason in canon to abandon H/D.  The possibilities are … infinite.  I shall be writing another series after UaDM; it will be titled, Infinite Jest.  I am pleased to proffer an introductory paragraph, and a challenge.

Death, Harry reflected, was curiously like the antechamber to the Department of Mysteries.  The doors of perception were infinite.  You had only to choose one from the spinning round, and enter.  Take a return ticket for the next train.  Albus had said, in this mad, naked conversation on the platform, that he had an infinity of choices.  He could take a return ticket and live whole lifetimes before he came back here to King's Cross.  It was, after all, all in his mind, and none the less real for that.  He could take a return ticket....  Mind the gap.

There’s your jumping-off point for a canon-compliant HD story, in which Harry lives any number of lives before the thread of one of the many timelines, the one we know as the Deathly Hallows timeline and epilogue, is taken up again, epilogue and all.  Anyone who likes is made free of this conceit, and if you write an HD story with this as your first paragraph or your Point of Departure – including any HD stories in which Scorpion and the Asp (Malfoy S and Potter AS) are the revenants of an alternate Draco and Harry – let me know and we’ll gather all the links in one place as being the Infinite Jest challenge.

I think you should go post this challenge in H/D communities like serpentinelion etc. (but, you know, under a cut?)

Ooops. No doubt.

And I meant to use one here.

Thanks; I'll pander it around tomorrow.

I'm not particularly interested in H/D, but I'm always keen to read good writing, for whatever ship. I pause only to note my conviction that thgiving his sone the initials 'ASP' must surely have been intended as a peace offering to Slytherin house.

One hopes, of course, that Harry wasn't nursing a snake in his bosom.

much as i love you (and you know i do!) H/D never was and never will be canon--slashy, slashy subtext in DH aside :(
